READING. RANTING. RAVING.
“I have lived a thousand lives and I’ve loved a thousand loves. I’ve walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time. Because I read.”

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, Jack Thorne8/24/2016 "The truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution." Start Date : August 02, 2016 End Date : August 02, 2016 Actual Rating : 5 / 5 Be warned... I am a #Potterhead (and proud of it) so this might not be 100% unbiased review. I sort-of grew up with Harry Potter. I read the first book around 2nd Year High School (or 8th Grade) but I have heard of it since I was around 11 years old. I keep seeing it on the cable news but wasn't able to get my paws on a copy of the book. Fast forward to 29 years later and I am still going gaga over this series. This book is set years after Voldemort has been defeated. Although the people connected to the event seem to wish to lead normal lives, I guess it can never be normal. They are the heroes of their time... Like seeing Godric Gryffindor or Nicholas Flamel. The names Weasley-Potter and Granger-Potter are the elite (regardless of their relations with the Muggles) while the Malfoy treated as pariah of society. That being said, the story is about overcoming society's expectations... Being comfortable in your own skin... accepting people regardless of their background and accepting that you what people expects of you and be okay with it. I believe it is a perfect read for both kids and parents ... Some of the potterheads of my generation are now parents and this book is a light reminder of how tough parenting can be but that it is also tough for your child. It is quite lovely that both the old and new generation of potterheads can get some guidance and comfort in this book. The book is also about the power of friendship and love.. It shows that sometimes honesty and real communication is all that is needed and that a world with just one friend lost can make a lot of difference... It brings back some of the characters we've lost in a heartwrenching way. It highlights that though for the past 7 years we have followed Harry, Ron and Hermione..The people that surrounds them are also the heroes. That the defeat of Voldemort is not just because of the three. It is bittersweet to encounter some of the characters cause they relate so much but they are only in passing. For such a short read it invoked so much memories and feelings... This is really a script with enter stage left etc... even if it is not as descriptive that is typical of JK Rowling writing style you can still imagine the world because it is predecessors have described that magical world that in just a turn of a page you are back there in Hogwarts and all... This book is like a comet in the night... A lightning in the sky... Just a quick peek back in their world... I feel the loss again but I am thankful for that flash of light
