READING. RANTING. RAVING.
“I have lived a thousand lives and I’ve loved a thousand loves. I’ve walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time. Because I read.”

“... we all have demons inside us, voices that whisper we’re no good, that if we don’t make this promotion or ace that exam we’ll reveal to the world exactly what kind of worthless sacks of skin and sinew we really are.” Start Date : August 29, 2016 End Date : September 3, 2016 Actual Rating : 3.8 / 5 The story follows Lo Blacklock's first assignment in covering a high-end luxury ship for the travel magazine she works for. The excitement is quickly eclipsed by a home invasion that leaves her feeling violated and vulnerable. Instead of backing out of the assignment, she believes this is the perfect chance for her to temporarily escape life and chance to experience the "good life". Everything is going great until she hears a scream in the night and a splash. Her anxiety heightens when the woman she believes to be the victim has never existed according to everyone else on board. This another book from the Barnes and No le best sellers list. For those who enjoy Agatha Christie, this is something you could consider for your TBR (To Be Read) list. The idea of a bunch of people on a single location and a murder happens. The main idea of the story is whether the murder actually happened. The story line is cleverly written to keep readers guessing.
The plot twist is caught me off guard. It was not the usual mystery-thriller stroy wherein you can see the ending half way through the book. The jumping timeline between what's happening to Lo during the cruise ship and to what's happening between her loved ones on land. For me, the first 2/3 of the book was slow moving. Eventhough the main idea is very similar to Agatha Christie, it does not have the same way of captivating the reader. It lacks "something" that stops me from putting down the book and keeps me saying "Just one more chapter" whatever I am doing. My main issue with this story is that Lo is not likable. It was really hard for my to relate to her or to emphatize with her. I found her a bit rude to others and yet so hard on her self. Even with the anxiety reason, it was really hard for me to connect to her. The only part I actually started liking her was in the latter part of the story wherein she started to show some strength and belief in her self... And it just so happens this was the part wherein she was all alone. Overall it is a nice read but I will not be picking it up again anytime soon.
