READING. RANTING. RAVING.
“I have lived a thousand lives and I’ve loved a thousand loves. I’ve walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time. Because I read.”

“But books are curious objects. They have the power to trap, transport, and even transform you if you are lucky.” Start Date : October 11, 2016 End Date: October 15, 2016 Actual Rating : 4.3/5 Sefia lives in a world wherein stories are passed from mouth to mouth from mothers to daughters and people don't read. There are very few readers, and readers have powers. This is the first buddy-read wherein the four of us (which I will now name the Awesome Foursome) undertook. We saw four copies of this book during our shopping spree last MIBF, looked it up on Goodreads and decided to go for it. First, let's talk about the book itself. It has deckled edge paper, which I don't usually see on books. The dust jacket is beautiful and I find the spine elegant. This is one of the books that I read everything... everything. As soon as you see words printed, read it. Plus there is a little "scavenger" game on the book. The story is quite tedious at the beginning. There is nothing going on and Sefia is not 100% likable. As the story goes along I learned to like her and the story. I liked the parallel story line. It was a bit disconcerting at first, but it was perfect for a buddy-read. It provided us with enough theories and ideas for discussion. The world created was not entirely original. It was merely a version of earth with no technlogy and with magic. The story itself is engaging and is quite enjoyable.
