READING. RANTING. RAVING.
“I have lived a thousand lives and I’ve loved a thousand loves. I’ve walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time. Because I read.”

"Your heart is pure, your intentions are true. Hold onto those strengths... " *** I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED A COPY FROM THE "RACHEL E. CARTER YA BOOK CLUB ON GOODREADS." Start Date : January 24, 2017 End Date: January 28, 2017 Actual Rating : 3.5/5 Zoe is your ordinary, everyday teenager when everything changed because of a guy she caught staring at her while she was in the coffee shop. When she and her best friend Kieran got out of the coffee guy, that same guy (with his own friend), started chasing after them. This is where life took a turn, it turns out she is the "Redeemer" that the good side is waiting for to save them and the bad side is also waiting for her, to kill her. This is a good first book for a series. The main character, Zoe is likable and is interesting. The way she built up her "team" of protectors was also interesting. The interaction between each character is a pleasant read.
The writing style is pretty straight forward and there are no need for world building since it is set in modern times. The writer is able to describe each character with enough detail that readers would not have hard time imagining what they looked like. However, this book lacks conflict. This feels like the first third of other books since it is mostly on character introduction and establishing the problem of the hero. The lacks a main protagonist. Even though a "Sam" is being mentioned and his henchmen are being sent, the presence of the villain is missing. Overall, I like this book. If I find the next book in the series I would definitely pick it up and read it, but I would not go waiting in lines for its release nor ransack the whole bookstore to find it.
