READING. RANTING. RAVING.
“I have lived a thousand lives and I’ve loved a thousand loves. I’ve walked on distant worlds and seen the end of time. Because I read.”

"There is nothing on this Earth that can make you feel as invincible or as vulnerable as love can" *** I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED A COPY FROM THE "RACHEL E. CARTER YA BOOK CLUB ON GOODREADS." Start Date : October 19, 2016 End Date: October 20, 2016 Actual Rating : 3.8/5 Earth is different. Difference among the classes are more prominent then ever. The poorest are forced to labor and their choices are limited. While the rich live in luxury and does not know the meaning of the "work". In this class, is Sadie. She knows her true self but cannot show it, not even to her family. Her only hope to live a life she wants is by joining the government's experimental society, Thalassic City. She gets chosen and she thinks this is her chance. She gets to study and to bring out her true self. But the experiment and the people around her is not as they seem The main character Sadie is interesting to me. She is person that does not have strong familial ties nor affection to her family at all. Though this can be seen also on Cinder (and her inspiration Cinderella), the main difference is that Cinder still has affection towards her family and knows that they are not related by blood. Whereas Cinder IS a member of the family yet feels fully separate from it. Aside from sister Ella, there seem to be no ties nor love between herself and her family. She is an enigma wherein she knows her real self yet does not know how to show or act upon her true nature. The story itself is somewhat unique. It is futuristic in a sense wherein there is inter-planetary connection and advance technologies yet it brings the reader in a very familiar routine or universe because it refers to normal teenage routine (diner, movie, school). Although like most dystopian novels wherein the classes of people is the main issue of the story and the goal of the protagonist is to end it, here it was merely mentioned and not the fueling force for the story to move. It was mentioned at the beginning, the story suddenly centered on Sadie's personal life. For me it became a bit tedious cause it centered on Sadie's social life too much and it kind of forgot the whole picture. The way the aliens were revealed was, although not surprising, was nicely written. The supporting characters are likable while the antagonist is someone you can really hate. Then ending is a bit of a cliff hanger. It made me want to read the next one on the series yet does not make me crave it enough that I have would think about it constantly and exert all possible effort to get the second copy.
